Municipal Energy Efficiency and Management Project (MEEMP)

Municipal Energy Efficiency and Management Project (MEEMP), Serbia

State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO  2018 - 2021

Through the Municipal Energy Efficiency and Management Project (MEEMP) the Swiss Government supports the Serbian municipalities of Kruševac, Užice, Paraćin and Vrbas in improving their municipal energy management by introducing the methodology of the internationally recognized European Energy Award (EEA) (component 1) through investments in energy efficiency measures in public buildings (component 2) and through capacity building in the field of energy efficiency at national and local level (component 3).
The EEA is a quality management and certification system. It supports municipalities willing to contribute to sustainable energy policy and urban development through the rational use of energy and increased use of renewable energies. There are more than 1,500 municipalities participating across Europe today. The EEA has its origins in Switzerland where the Government strongly supported the development of the Energiestadt label through the EnergieSchweiz Initiative.
